Product Care and Safety
Filling a hot water bottle safely
- Check your hot water bottle regularly for wear, damage and leaks before use. Do not use if cracked, worn or leaking or if you are concerned
- Replacing your hot water bottle every two to three years is a safety measure to minimise the risk of injury, even if the bottle does not show obvious signs of wear
- Never use boiling water: Allow the water to cool slightly before filling your hot water bottle to avoid burns and potential damage to the bottle
- Hold upright when filling: Hold the bottle by the neck and fill slowly
- Fill to two-thirds maximum capacity or less: Do not overfill the bottle to allow for expansion and to prevent bursting
- Excess air: Gently squeeze out any trapped excess air before screwing the stopper on tightly
- Check the stopper: Ensure the stopper is securely tightened before use
- Check for leaks: After filling, check the bottle for leaks by holding it upside down
- Use a cover: Always use a cover to prevent direct skin contact and reduce the risk of burns
- Empty and dry after use: After each use, empty the hot water bottle, dry it thoroughly, and store your hot water bottle in a cool, dark place
Warnings:
- Hot water bottles can be dangerous and cause burns if they are not filled, cared for or used properly. Please follow the instructions given
- Avoid prolonged direct contact: Do not leave the bottle on your skin for extended periods
- Never sit or lie on a hot water bottle: A hot water bottle should never be used as a cushion
- Be cautious when using with children: Adults only to fill the hot water bottle. Never leave a hot water bottle unattended with children, and use a cover to prevent burns
- Do not microwave: Never microwave a hot water bottle, as this can cause it to explode
